The 8th annual Salmon Valley Woman’s Festival is almost back at Rockin’s River Resort.
The festival is all about empowerment, music, self-help, and taking time to appreciate yourself.
Robin Stoy started the event shortly after moving north from the Okanagan.
She says she felt the need to do something after seeing amazing people putting themselves second in their busy lives.
“All these wonderful people were doing all this wonderful work for othersm but there was no self care,” says Stoy, “I saw a lot of burnout happening.”
Since then, the festival has really taken off, the Stoy says the positive response has been overwhelming.
“There’s been some amazing things that have happened over the years… It’s the transformation you see in women. Women talk about moving across the province to pursue a new career, or leave a situation that wasn’t so healthy for them.”
This year will also feature a free youth day, catered to 10-17 year-olds of all genders.
“We’re going to be creating a medicine wheel with them, we’ll do some energy work, they’ll get some wonderful entertainment, and then we’re going to play some Mission Impossible!”
Registration is encouraged for the festival, but dropping in is accepted.
Salmon Valley Woman’s Festival runs from August 14th-16th.
