Looks like the Hart Ski Hill could be hard pressed to find funding for its upcoming season.
Club President Mike Gareau says the non-profit organization had always relied on gaming grants. Now, the rules on acquiring gaming money have changed and that leaves them somewhat high and dry:
“Well I’ve talked to gaming and sent appeal letters to gaming, and the bottom line is we just don’t fit the bill. I’ve talked to our MLA and he said that there is not much he could do, because gaming has set the rules and that’s all there is to it”
Gareau says this funding goes towards equipment breakdowns, or upgrades to keep the hill in top shape.
He says the club is open to help from individual donors or sponsorships now, and encourages them to get in contact if they’re interested.
