Both Kelly Road Secondary and Heather Park Elementary were put into lock down this morning as RCMP received a report of a youth with a firearm in a wooded area near the schools this morning.
The call came in at 8:20am and the schools were locked down while officers searched the area.
A pellet gun was located near the secondary school and a male high school student was located and spoken to by officers.
No criminal intent was found, and the schools are no longer in lockdown.
RCMP want to remind the public that it is never acceptable to bring any kind of weapon to school or in close proximity of a school and that pellet guns and replica guns are considered and treated as firearms if they appear to be firearms.
